Germany: Govt express condolences for victims of helicopter crash killing Ukraine’s Interior Minister Monastyrsky
The government expressed condolences for the victims of the helicopter crash in Ukraine which claimed the lives of top officials of the country’s interior ministry, during a press conference in Berlin on Wednesday.
Speaking during the Federal Press Conference, Deputy government spokesperson Wolfgang Buchner stated "It is with dismay that we have heard the news about the helicopter crash over a kindergarten near Kiev, which claimed the lives of the Minister of Interior of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky, his deputy and 16 other people, including three children. Our deepest condolences go to the relatives."
Interior Ministry spokesperson Maximilian Kall added "It is terrible, as the government spokesman has already said, that children have also died and been injured and the children of the Ukrainian Minister of Interior have also lost their father."
14 people including Monastyrsky, his deputy and the state secretary were killed in a helicopter crash in Kiev’s suburb of Brovary earlier in the day. Another 25 people, among them 11 children, were injured in connection with the incident.
