Germany: CDU Berlin shows confidence ahead of repeat state election
Friedrich Merz, Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) leader, and Kai Wegner, CDU chairman, held a meeting in Berlin on Wednesday to express their confidence ahead of the repeat state election on February 12.
The CDU leader informed that the party’s candidates are currently the leaders of the repeat state election poll. He also emphasized the importance of Kai Wegner throughout the whole process.
"We have every chance in Berlin to contribute to a change in the Senate and Kai Wegner should be the next governing mayor of this beautiful city of Berlin," Merz said.
For Wegner, Berlin's authorities must be more active when it comes to solving the problems of the city, and this is what he plans to do in case of a win.
"We live in Berlin and deserve a better government," Wegner stated.
The current government is formed by the coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), The Greens, and The Left, led by Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey.
